Early Spiritual Uses of Cannabis – Despite the growing volume of literature on the subject of hemp, the historical routes of its diffusion remain obscure, and there is scant reference to its ubiquitous role in early spiritual uses such as folk ritual, magic and medicine among European peasantry…
So begins Chapter 27 in my new book, One Toke To God; 30 Essays by Noted Researchers into The Entheogenic Spirituality of Cannabis.
I promised to post another excerpt and I apologize that it took me so long to get it done. What can I say, I am a really busy guy.
The origin of the term cannabis is a derivative from the nomadic Scythians by peoples of the Near East, diffused among the people with whom they came in contact…
This essay reconsiders the origin of the term cannabis to demonstrate that it is derived from Semitic languages and that both its name and forms of its use were borrowed by the Scythians from the peoples of the Near East. We will thus discover that the use of cannabis predates by at least 1000 years its first mention by Herodotus…
There was barely any history of cannabis before the Greek historian Herodotus, in the fifth century B.C.E., observed that the Scythians used the plant to purge themselves after funerals by throwing hemp seeds on heated stones to create a thick vapor, inhaling the smoke and becoming intoxicated…
Each tribesman was required to participate in the cult of Riamba and show his devotion by smoking as frequently as possible. They attributed universal magical powers to hemp, which was thought to combat all kinds of evil, and they took it when they went to war and when they traveled. There were initiation rites for new members, which usually took place before a war or long journey. The hemp pipe assumed a symbolic meaning for the Bashilenge somewhat analogous to the significance which the peace pipe had for American Indians…..
If you enjoy the brief excerpts, I am sure you will enjoy reading the book.
I thought it might be enlightening if I were to post some excerpts from the book. This first excerpt is from Chapter 29, Parenting with Cannabis, by Nicole Linton and Jonathan Thompson:
Cannabis is a gentle consciousness expander. She encourages us to look at our environment with peaceful eyes and a spirit of family-like intercon-nectedness. Instead of seeing the world and her people as objects to be owned or resources to be exploited, cannabis leads us toward a posture of stewardship. One of the ancient names for the entheogen S.divinorum among the Mazatecs of Oaxaca, Mexico, translates as “Eyes of the Shepherdess.” Cannabis, too, gives us the eyes and heart of a guardian, or protectress of creation. Conscious living, with a focus on the unbreakable connection between nature and humanity,….
Cannabis is, mystically, both an architect and the building materials of a better future. Her hemp body promises a renewable resource that’s incredibly versatile and easy on the environment; one that could replace corn for oil, trees for wood, nylon for rope, and cotton for clothing and other textiles…
It has been way too long since I did a new post; my life is SO full and busy these days. I am working on it, but meanwhile, just a quick note… did you hear the latest Liberty Dollar news? After TEN years, the confiscated Liberty Dollars are being returned to their rightful owners! That is just wild and very awesome good news! The actual gold and silver Liberty Dollars are being returned. Happy Day!
NEW BOOK EXPLORES THE CANNABIS CONNECTION BETWEEN HUMANITY AND GOD
I apologize for not posting to this blog for so long, but I have been swamped with all the details involved with the founding of the Cannabis Spiritual Center in Malibu, California, and the release of a new book. Here is the Press Release;
Cannabis is more than a medical aid for coping with pain, chemotherapy side effects and many other illnesses. It is more than a source of enjoyment and recreational delight. It is a way for humans to connect with their spiritual center – with the God within.
The amazing essays document the use of cannabis from pagan nomads, to great civilizations, to the present-day entheogenic use of cannabis. And One Toke to God shows readers how to experience the spiritual connection that has endured since the very beginning of man’s existence on Earth. The renowned contributors not only show how cannabis has been used for thousands of years – they also document how it is being used today to connect with spirituality.
One Toke to God details a decentralized, democratic spiritual model, for free-thinking responsible individual spiritual seekers with twelve specific guidelines for personal cannabis use in the privacy of their home (where legal) once a week to connect with the eternal God within.
On Sunday, April 21, 1996, Bernard von NotHaus, a colorful child of the ’60s, took one toke, rediscovered the spirituality of cannabis and originated the Special Sunday Service (SSS) with One Toke to God. He has enjoyed one toke every Sunday for over 21 years – the world’s longest recorded case study for using cannabis as an entheogen. He is the founder and executive director of the Cannabis Spiritual Center in Malibu, California and a popular speaker on private currencies, cannabis and spirituality.

I met Sheriff Clarke, of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, in Grand Lake Colorado at the week long, annual Constitution Week event. He was the Keynote speaker and I had some time to visit with him. As you can see he is a really tall guy. Great speaker. Very impressive. It was a pleasure and an honor to meet Sheriff Clarke. Constitution Week was from September 12 – 17 and I met Sheriff Clarke at the Law Enforcement Dinner on Friday, September 16, 2016.
“Clarke is viewed as an “iconoclastic sheriff,” one of “a long line of controversy-courting lawmen” that includes Richard Mack and Joe Arpaio in Arizona. Clarke has been “associated with those on the political extremes” on occasion, and has attracted attention for these “dalliances with the far right.” In 2013, Clarke accepted the “Sheriff of the Year Award” by the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, a group of sheriffs founded by Mack. The Southern Poverty Law Center has criticized founder Mack and his organization for espousing “radical-right” views. Earlier the same year, Clarke appeared for an interview on the syndicated show of Alex Jones, who is “best known for his anti-government views and conspiracy theories on everything from fluoride to the 9-11 terrorist attacks.” Clarke has also appeared on CNN, Fox News, and other major news outlets to discuss ongoing police controversies.”
Today I did an interview with Gary Franchi of The Next News Network. I invite you to go to You Tube and view the video. Gary’s team did an awesome job, and I encourage you to please share the video far and wide.
One of the few freedoms I see that we still have left to us, is the freedom to buy real money; i.e. gold and silver. Yes, this is another shameless plug for the Trump Dollar. Of course I want you to buy some gold and/or silver from me. Own some Free Speech that is Actually Worth Something.
The “2016 Trump Dollar” is a clear call for freedom of political speech and an expression of distrust of the entrenched political class. It was created to recognize Donald Trump’s heroic presidential candidacy and popularize it with collectors and sound-money supporters. It was designed by Bernard von NotHaus, the monetary architect of the Liberty Dollar. That’s me.
Tyler Durden, over at Zero Hedge, best expressed today, my sentiments about the current state of freedom in America.
“Moral law no longer governs. Only the law. And that can be anything. There are no limits whatsoever on what may be done to us; only that a law be enacted (and not even that). We are bound to obey, regardless. The king’s men could simply take our things, search our persons on whim. The colonists objected to such treatment and cited such treatment among the reasons for their decision to secede. Is it not a fact that the government’s men (and women) can simply take our things? Search us on whim? Have you traveled recently?” Read his post HERE.
I am still on the road, returning home from the 2016 PorcFest Freedom Festival where I was one of the speakers. The standing ovation I received was extremely moving. I appreciate everyone who came to hear me speak, and visited with me. I especially appreciate all of those who bought Trump Dollars on the spot!
I found some interesting links regarding the week long Libertarian event.
The Trump Dollar was a HOT seller at the New Hampshire PorcFest Freedom Festival! The response to the Trump Dollar and to my speech were just phenomenal. I saw many old friends, made new friends, and received many complements on the beauty of the Trump Dollar. People especially liked this:
The “2016 Trump Dollar” – a clear call for freedom of speech and expression of distrust of the entrenched political class – was designed by Bernard von NotHaus, the monetary architect of the Liberty Dollar. The Brilliant Uncirculated commemorative coin is available in pure .999 fine silver and pure copper.
I am still away from home so this is another short post. My new blog has not been promoted or shared yet. The kinks are still being worked out, and I am learning how to use this awesome tool.
Judge Voorhees Orders Early Termination of BVNH from Probation
Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters!
For the first time since being arrested for counterfeiting and conspiracy on June 4, 2009, I am off probation and free! Earlier today, Judge Richard Voorhees issued a Court Order for early termination of my three year sentence.
I light of the fact that I was facing 22 years in federal prison, the three years of probation is the closest I or the Liberty Dollar will ever come to a vindication.
Meanwhile, the forfeiture case has been moving at light speed with 265 Petitions approved in record time and the balance have moved along very well. I am soo pleased that soo many Liberty Dollar supporters refused to let the government steal their property.
And of course, one of the most unique turn of events, is that the actual Gold and Silver Liberty Dollars are being returned! In a time when seized property is rarely ever returned and if so, it is in the form of those dreaded non-Federal non-Reserve Notes The Petitioners will receive actual Liberty Dollars! How cool it that!?
Words cannot express my sincere appreciation for all of you who took a stand for a value based currency and supported the Liberty Dollar. My heart goes out to those who have been harmed or not lived long enough to enjoy the blessings of their activism.
Many many thanks for your staunch support of the Liberty Dollar!
